Description: Job Title: Specialty Pharmacy TechnicianDepartment: Pharmacy | Home InfusionLocation: 2975 Brighton Henrietta Townline Rd, Suite 230 Hours Per Week: 40 HoursSchedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pmSUMMARY:The Pharmacy Technician - Specialist assists Pharmacists in pharmaceutical preparation, distribution, and record keeping functions in the delivery of pharmaceutical supplies to patients of all ages in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. The PhT Specialist works in a specialized area of Pharmacy (IV room) and provides advanced knowledge and experience to that area of practice.RESPONSIBILITIES:+ Medication Management. Properly operate the ADMs (Automatic Dispensing Machines); prepack bulk medication and repackage into individual size packaging; prepare all medications in a sterile and clean environment; fill and document patient orders; properly dispose of medication.+ Documentation & Reporting. Ensure concise, pertinent and complete patient care documentation using EMR system (Electronic Medical Record); use pharmacy information system to run reports and access medication data; receive and store incoming supplies and verify quantities.+ Maintenance & Sterilization. Clean and maintain the repackaging machine after use; non-sterile compounding and prepare oral liquids, creams and ointments in a clean environment; measure and combine medication accurately with proper documentation; ensure proper disposal of medication. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:+ Minimum 6 months of experience within a pharmacy service line+ National Pharmacy Technician Certification+ NYS Office Of Professions Registered Pharmacy TechnicianPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:+ High School diploma or GED+ Excellent oral and written communication skills for routine interaction with inter- and intra-departmental staff, patients, and visitors+ IV compounding experienceEDUCATION:LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
